Dragon Fruit

Native to Central America, dragon fruit was once an exotic fruit but has now become one of consumers’ favourite fruits due to its unique appearance. Most dragon fruit have bright, red skin with green scales which resemble a dragon’s scales. There are two main commercial varieties of dragon fruit – white and red – both of which contain an impressive number of phytonutrients and antioxidants, including Vitamins C, B1, B2, B3, polyunsaturated (healthy) fatty acids, iron, zinc, calcium, and phosphorous.

 

Vietnam is the world’s largest producer of dragon fruit, also called pitaya or pitahaya.
